Hello Sun Valley Lake friends, my name is Jason Eckhoff and I am the Assistant Manager at the lake. I have been part of this beautiful community for the last 17 years. This summer was my first in my current role as the Assistant Manager.
I come to Sun Valley from the classrooms of West Des Moines. I have been a teacher and coach for 25 years. I love educating and watching my students and athletes discover the concepts we have been working on. There is nothing like that ah-ha moment.
I started coming down to Sun Valley with a teacher friend some 20 years ago. We used to come down during the summer and fish. I couldn't believe the size and quality of the fish we caught! The beautiful clear water was amazing, and I knew I had to find a way to get on the lake. My family and I ended up purchasing a lot and built our current house a few years later. In the summers when the kids were younger, we got to spend most of our summers down at the lake, definitely a perk of teaching.
At this time, I am a full time Sun Valley resident in the summers and every weekend. I have two children who are in college. They come down and enjoy the lake with me when they are able. During the school year I live in Urbandale. I can't wait to call Sun Valley Lake my permanent home.
I would like to thank all the members and staff who made me feel so welcome this summer. I have enjoyed learning the lake manager position this summer. It is a challenging yet rewarding position. It has been fun meeting the members and helping them with challenges that arose during the season. Every day is different, and I am enjoying the new challenges.
Sun Valley Lake will always hold a special place in my family's heart. I am passionate about and will do what I can to keep Sun Valley that special place where we all can enjoy spending our time with family and friends making lasting memories.
